2003 Pinot
Noir
(Methode
Champenoise) The nose is pinot fruit with a nice amount of yeastiness from the lees maturation time. The palate reflects the nose, with a fine bead, good mouth feel and a refreshing lemony finish. A wine to be enjoyed with food or on its own. The traditional Methode Champenoise is used to make this wine. Previous vintages have been awarded the Trophy at the 2002 Perth Hills Wine Show, the Trophy at the 2002 Swan Valley Show and a Bronze Medal at the Qantas Wine Show of Western Australia. 2001 Chardonnay The 2001 Chardonnay is made from grapes grown at Cosham in the Perth Hills region of Western Australia. The nose shows a combination of tropical fruits and complementary oak. The chardonnay fruit comes through on the palate and is balanced by oak and acid. This wine was awarded a Bronze Medal at the Rutherglen Show in 2004. The 2000 vintage was particularly good winning a number of awards - Gold Medal 2002 Qantas Mt Barker Wine Show, Hyatt Hotel top 50, 94/100 James Halliday wine Companion 2004, Bronze Medal Australian Small winemakers Show and Bronze medal Cowra Wine Show. 2001 Pinot Noir The nose is distinctly pinot, reminiscent of violets and cherries, with smoky oak overtones. The palate is long and smooth with persistent pinot noir flavours. The wine will continue to develop well in the bottle over the next few years. 2001 Cabernet Merlot The nose has aromas of chocolate and liquorice and Cabernet fruit, with the generous Merlot fruit softening the firmness of the Cabernet on the palate. The addition of small quantities of the traditional Bordeaux varieties of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot adds to the complexity of the wine. This wine won a Gold Medal at the Australian Small Winemakers’ Show in 2003. |
